Dr Suresh Kesavan - Principal

Dr Suresh is one of the owners of Cairns GP medical center with more than 20 years of experience. Dr. Suresh's varied experience affords him the ability to see many diverse populations and medical situation. Dr. Suresh's special interests include Occupational medicine, teaching & mentoring medical students and registrars in training.

Additionally, Dr. Suresh is a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME), who conducts medical fitness exams for pilots, an AHP for Rail Medicals and an AMA for Coal or Mineral Mine Medicals.

Graduated Primarily in Rhodesia 1979 with MBChB then again in Scotland with LRCP Edinburgh, LRCS Edinburgh, LRSP&S Glascow (the Triple Colleges of Medicine & Surgery.). Aviation Medicine Certification (Farnborough UK 1981). Advanced Trauma Life Support & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (USA credentialled 1996)

Extensive experience gained in Southern Africa over 20 years including military surgeon in a war. An Airforce flight surgeon, DCA examiner. Emergency Physician, Surgery Teaching (upgrading young Doctors for Bush Procedural Surgical, Anesthetic & Emergency Obstetric Skills).
Immigrated to Australia from South Africa in Nov 1999 after 18 years in general practice and emergency medicine. Practiced as a GP Proceduralist in Cairns FNQ for 26 years. Previously, a GP registrar supervisor & a JCU student teacher for 10 years.

Dr Lukas Mar

Dr Lukas Mar is an Australian born and trained specialist General Practitioner. He completed his tertiary qualifications at the University of Queensland in 2009. He then worked as a hospital doctor at The Prince Charles Hospital and Mater Health Services in Brisbane. He obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2014.

Dr Mar has recently taken parental leave to travel around Australia in a caravan with his wife and young children. During this time, he completed locum work in rural Victoria.

Dr Mar is now working at Cairns GP Medical Centre His primary special interest is in paediatrics, as he holds a Diploma in Child Health, and has 2 young children who take up most of his spare time! Dr. Mar also has other special interests in autoimmune diseases and men's health.
